Movie Review: The Hunger Games
By Taylor Mack
On the opening day of The Hunger Games, Cluster Three went to see it. The movie was one of the best movies I have seen in my opinion. Ninety-five percent of the movie was exactly like the book. Those who have read the book will love this movie.
Subtle changes are barely noticed in the movie versus the book. One difference is Katniss gets her pin from the market, not the mayor's daughter. Also, Peeta's father doesn't give Katniss the cookies or promise to take care of her family. Though there are changes, they don't affect the plot; the main events are still the same.
The movie was great. There are some "scary" parts in the movie, like a beast jumping out of the bushes. There also are some sad parts, like Rue dying. There is blood spill, but I wasn't affected by it; if anything, it adds to the thrill of the movie! The ending left me hanging, but I will not spoil what happens for you.
Rated five stars, I highly recommend it to someone looking for an action/romance movie.

Book Review: The Hunger Games
By Emillie Adams
The Hunger Games is a phenomenal book. The constant seriousness of Katniss surprised me. It's an action-adventure with a hint of romance.
The reader gets transported into Katniss Everdeen's world of Panem. The government, led by President Snow, enforces and maintains the public by a brutal and torturous survival show. Katniss's sister, Primrose, gets picked for the show so Katniss protectively also volunteered. She gets partnered up with a boy, Peeta Mellark, who she feels she somehow owes for inspiring her to live after her father died. To earn money for extra supplies they pretend they're dating.
Worth 15 AR points with 99,750 words, it is only the first in the three book series. If you are anything like me, you will struggle to put the book down. It is that gripping! I have to admit, I certainly didn't mind the little blood spill there was.
I give it five "smileys." Will the movie be as thrilling?

The Help, a Book and Film Comparison
By Nia Harris
Recently, two teachers were interviewed: Ms. Stolfi, grade seven, social studies, and Mrs. Sikora, grade seven, ILA about what they thought of the novel The Help by Kathryn Stockett and how they felt about the film.
Nia: How did you like The Help?
Ms. Stolfi: I enjoyed the time period this book took place. It was a time of great change.
Mrs. Sikora: I thought it was a heartfelt.
Nia: What did you think of the characters?
Ms. Stolfi: The main character embraces the battle of doing something to change. I also loved how the main character did what she felt was right.
Mrs. Sikora: I was very impressed with the bond between Skeeter and her old maid Constantine. She is the one who inspired Skeeter to speak the truth about the things that were going on.
Nia: How did you think the movie compared to book?
Ms. Stolfi: I felt the book was better than the move, but overall it was well put together. My only wish is that Oprah was the actress for Abillen.
Mrs. Sikora: If Kathryn Stockett made another book I would like to read it, if it is more accurate. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to be inspired from love and friendship against a hateful society. The only thing that I disliked about the book is that it was not historically accurate.
