Meriden Dance Center
By Allison Neville
Meriden Dance Center is a dance studio located right here in Meriden. If you like to dance, this is the place to go! But, if you only like a certain type dance, that’s ok too. At Meriden Dance Center there is a wide selection of the dance classes you can take. There is Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Modern. There are even Ballet and Tap classes for adults! People of all ages, male or female, starting with ages three can come and dance there.
From September to June (just like a school year) you learn dances that at the end of June you will perform! The performance is called a recital, a dance recital that is. A lot goes into these recitals to make them the best as they can be. We have to pick the music you dance too, the costumes you wear, the place the recital is at, where your dressing room is, where you should be right before your performance, and so much more. Every year there is a whole theme for the recital. In past years some themes have been," Sweet Dreams," "Summer Beach Party," " When You Wish Upon a Star," and " When I Grow Up."
This year the theme is "Hooray for Hollywood." The point of the theme is to have all the music and costumes to revolve around it. Every year there is something called National Dance Week.
